TORRINGTON — A city man whose June arrest on sexual assault and animal cruelty charges was delayed and initially diverted to Waterbury during the court system’s lockdown phase was ordered held Wednesday on $100,000 in Torrington Superior Court.

Jaime F. Delgado, 42, of 83 Eastwood Road, posted the $100,000 bond and left court.

Delgado, whose occupation in court records is listed as a banker for Chase Bank, was arrested following an investigation by city police. He hasn’t entered a plea.

Judge John Moore, appearing virtually by video monitor, ordered the files related to the felony charges sealed, including the file containing allegations of animal cruelty, which are related to his alleged sexual assault of a victim under the age of 16 and the use or threat of force.

Details of the allegations are expected to be made public when redacted files are released in 14 days.

Andrew Gray, a spokesman for JPMorgan Chase & Co. financial services firm, stated in an email Wednesday the company is “looking into the matter.”

The firm’s regional communications spokeswoman, Carolyn Evert, declined to comment.

Delgado is scheduled to return to court Sept. 11.

Supervisory Assistant State’s Attorney Jonathan Knight had no comment about the allegations Wednesday.
