EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — East Hartford Animal Control reported Sunday that a dog was found dead in a garbage bag for the second time in less than a week.
The dog appeared to be a young pit bull, possibly between four to 10 weeks old, with an apparent gunshot wound to its side, East Hartford Animal Control said.
Officers were alerted Sunday morning to the dog, which was found in a garbage bag in a wooded area near 53/55 Forbes St. and Cottage Street, according to East Hartford Animal Control.
The dog is described as mostly brown but the beginning of decomposition makes it unclear if it is grey in some areas as well.
East Hartford Animal Control is asking anyone with information to contact their office at 860-291-7572.
The first incident was reported on March 18 involving a golden retriever found in a trash can with a garbage bag over it behind a former Stop & Shop on 940 Silver Lane. Animal law advocates Desmond's Army is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of whoever is responsible for that incident.
We are all, by virtue of our humanity, mandated reporters. It is our responsibility to protect, help and report stupidity, cruelty, neglect and abuse. Together we can make a better and kinder world. TO SAY NOTHING, TO DO NOTHING, STOPS NOTHING. HURT AN ANIMAL AND GO STRAIGHT TO JAIL. DO NOT PASS GO AND DO NOT COLLECT THE REWARD.
We must get stricker laws for animal abuse from out officials in addition to people recognizing when animals are abused reporting them to authorities immediately. The laws should equal with the same penalities as people!! The animal abuse is a clear indication of the same treatment they would do to humans....a sick mind is a sick evil mind period!
